All food donations benefit the Acme Christian Thrift Store Pantry. Don't forget to bring your non-perishable food item to the Park Place Dome!
ACTS began with the vision of one member of Feast of Victory Lutheran Church, Paul Fetter, and has since blossomed into a thrift store and food pantry, which serves nearly 2249 families every six months. ACTS was formed as an official Michigan nonprofit corporation in 2002, and is operated 100% by volunteers from a number of local churches and caring citizens. It was intended to be a multi-church, multi-agency, Christian organization, and has remained this way throughout its history. ACTS has seen many changes over the years, having first been housed in a church unconstructed elevator shaft, then moving to a store front on US 31 North, and finally moving to its current location on M-72 in Williamsburg. As more and more families and homeless individuals seek assistance, ACTS is called upon to support more and more people year after year. In 2013, ACTS saw a 25% increase over 2012.
In addition to food, ACTS has started to offer healthy recipes that use ingredients available in the food pantry. They have also set up a computer work station for clients to use in job searches, job applications, and to register for other assistance programs such as Bridge Cards. Families who are especially down on their luck are offered the chance to stock up on clothing and household goods at no cost.
ACTS participates in food rescue, the fresh food partnership, and Feeding America food support systems, and continues to be a 100% volunteer organization. ACTS resale revenues cover all non-food expenses, including mortgage, utilities, and insurances, in addition to some of the food expenses.
For the 2013, Thanksgiving holiday, ACTS supported 167 families with a Thanksgiving meal.
Thanks for being part of the ACTS team and supporting this awesome community assistance non-profit!
